Uganda 12 Days

Day 1 Entebbe Airport to Entebbe town

Arrive at Entebbe international airport. Our staff member from Big Cat Tours and Travel will drive you to The Sanctum hotel in Entebbe town, check in for the night.

Day 2 Entebbe to Murchison Falls National Park in Masindi district

After breakfast, you set off for Murchison falls national park which is about 305km from Entebbe (5hr drive). We travel through the main route that is through the Kampala- Gulu highway to Masindi district where the park is located. Overnight at Red chilli rest camp.

Day 3 Game drive and viewing

Early breakfast and drive to river Nile and cross with a ferry to access the northern bank for a game drive at the Nile Delta region. There is extensive flora and fauna. You will see some of the big game like the Elephants, Hippos, Buffalos and some of the interesting species of plants. Later return for hot lunch at Red-chilli Rest Camp or at Paraa Safari Lodge. And after lunch drive to the bank of river Nile for a launch trip up the Nile to the bottom of the falls, it’s an exciting adventure, during the launch trip; you will spot many mammals, birds, and reptiles by the bank’s of the river.

Day 4 Chimps tracking

After breakfast, we set off for chimp tracking in Kaniyo Pabidi-Budongo forest. It’s going to be fun for you to trail through Kaniyo-Pabidi tracking the chimps with the help of forest ranger guide. After chimp tracking at Kaniyo-Pabidi, you can have lunch at Kaniyo-Pabidi or at Masindi. Overnight at Redchilli rest camp or equivalent.

Day 5 Murchsion national park to Mount Elgon

Have early breakfast, and later transfer to Mbale town via Kampala which is about 422km. We stop on the way for lunch, proceed to Mbale. Overnight camping.

Day 6 Hiking at Mount Elgon

Have early breakfast, go for hiking on the slopes of the extinct volcanic (Mt. Elgon). There are gorges, caves, cliffs, caldera which create a great scenery. Hiking is good on the Sasa trail. We expect it to be 2900 meters high. Overnight Camping.

Day 7 Hiking

After your breakfast in the morning, proceed climbing with your packed lunch. We hike till we get to 4050 meters high. Dinner and overnight camping

Day 8 Climb to Jackson’s Summit

After breakfast , climb to Jackson’s Summit which is at 4165 meters, the hot springs, Suam Gorge in the Caldera and the highest peak Wagagai at 4321 meters above the sea level. Overnight camping.

Day 9 Budadiri

Descend back to Budadiri. Lunch will be taken en route as you go down. Overnight camping.

Day 10 Mbale

After breakfast, we get to the mountain foot, transfer to Mbale. Overnight at Mbale Resort.

Day 11 Entebbe

Set off to Entebbe via Kampala for lunch, and after lunch drive to Mabamba swamp in Entebbe to see the most sought after birds; the majestic shoebill. Later in the evening transfer to The Sanctum hotel in Entebbe for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 12 Departure

Today you will be driven to the airport for your flight.
Please Note that your flight departure determines when to be at the airport for your home bound flight. Once we have the proper time of departure we will transfer you to the airport in time for your flight. Thank you very much!

The trip as described above includes;
Full board (dinner the first night, three meals a day and breakfast the last morning)
accommodation per person sharing, park fee , supporting tour leader, vehicle with driver, excursions described in the program including boat tour, game drive, chimpanzee tracking, hiking. If you want a room “single,” you need to report and pay a small extra fee.Personal expenses, insurance, international flights, visa for Uganda or any other administrative fees charged by the Embassy of Uganda are not included (check with the embassy if the yellow fever vaccination is required or not – it varies depending on the situation and country of origin).Apart from the legal requirements, you can opt for other vaccinations – see your doctor or a competent authority in the matter.

In general, note that the level of security at the accommodation is excellent in all respects (diseases, accidents with animals and travelers with petty crime are very rare).

Having a constant driver with the vehicle, the risks of theft are virtually nil – just carry all your belongings in the hotel rooms (which are very safe) with you for the night.

Please bring:

  • Binoculars
  • Possibly also spotting scope
  • Camera (enjoy the beautiful light after the rainy season in Uganda) according to your wishes, any camera of any size of zoom for animals and large birds that are often seen near.
  • Your travel documents: passport, visa, certification of vaccination, insurance etc
  • Your personal medication
  • Lightweight and comfortable clothing, sandals or flip flops to stay in the car or on the boat and walking shoes for the forest. Long-sleeved shirts are more reassuring to forest areas.
  • Provide a sweater for mornings which can be cold.

The bookings with the hotels mentioned in the program depend on availability. Reservations will only be made after your booking.
Note; In case the mentioned hotels are not available during the requested period, we will make sure to book a hotel in the same class for you. We do this after consulting you. It is not possible to ‘reserve’ gorilla and chimpanzee permits. Therefore we can only buy them after your booking and down-payment. This also here it all depends on availability.
